“Summer Night on the Rhine 2026”: Good wine, delicious food, and plenty of joie de vivre

“Summer Night on the Rhine” – Bacharach celebrated
an unforgettable weekend

Set against the picturesque backdrop of the medieval town, the atmospherically lit trees, and the view of the Rhine, visitors from near and far once again enjoyed an enchanting summer weekend. This year, the Bacharach Rhine Promenade was once again transformed into a unique setting for wine, fine dining, and music.

At the grand opening, City Mayor Dieter Kemmer, Benedikt Seemann, mayor of the Rhein-Nahe municipal association, and Christian Kuhn, managing director of Rhein-Nahe Touristik, welcomed the guests. Together with the wine royalty—including Middle Rhine Wine King Felix Grün and his Wine Princess Johanna Persch, Loreley Katharina Blanckart from St. Goarshausen, and Gero Schüler, the Bacchus of Bacharach, along with his Bacchantes—they extended a warm welcome to the visitors.

Special thanks went out to everyone involved, both on stage and behind the scenes: the many volunteers, the clubs, the winemakers, the restaurateurs, and, of course, our long-standing sponsors, without whose support the “Summer Night on the Rhine” could not be held at this level of quality.

Musically, too, the weekend left nothing to be desired: MEP-Live kicked things off on Friday evening with an energetic mix of rock, pop, country, and blues—the park quickly turned into an open-air dance floor. Saturday began with Coming Up, the band from the Wilhelm-Hofmann-Gymnasium in St. Goarshausen, who provided some jazzy tunes, before the “Night Stars” took the stage in the evening, thrilling the audience and keeping the festive atmosphere going late into the night.

Another highlight was the now well-established ecumenical open-air service on Sunday morning, organized by the Protestant congregation of Vierthäler and the parish of St. Urban Oberer Mittelrhein. Following the service, the Oberes Mittelrheintal Wind Orchestra (“BOOM”) provided a fitting musical finale with a lively morning get-together.

Once again, the youngest guests were not forgotten: While the children enjoyed the play street and face painting, their parents were able to relax and enjoy the festival. The many booths invited visitors to linger, sample, and chat—whether over regional wines, fine food, or coffee and cake. As a special highlight, the winemakers offered a wine-tasting pass on Sunday.

The “Summer Night on the Rhine” once again demonstrated how fine wines can be enjoyed alongside delicious food at an attractive event.
