Mr. and Mrs. van de Water have been guests in Bacharach for 40 years

An and Piet van de Water from the Netherlands have been spending their vacations in Bacharach since 1978. He first visited Bacharach alone that year and got to know Kurt Jost's winery in Bacharach during a wine tasting.

From then on, the family from Nieuw-Vennep in the province of North Holland enjoyed staying at Pension Jost as well as at the Bacharach campsite run by the Kurt Ronowski family. Over the years, close personal contacts developed and the children Petra and Marco van de Water also actively helped with the grape harvest in the fall.

The friendship with the Doris and Hans-Jürgen Jost family, the beautiful surroundings, the Rhine and the tranquillity of the area have always encouraged me to visit Bacharach and the region.

As a thank you for An and Piet van de Water's forty years of loyalty to Bacharach, the Bacharach town mayor, Karl Heinz Schleis, and the managing director of Rhein-Nahe Touristik, Christian Kuhn, presented them with the coat of arms plate of the town of Bacharach and a book with recipes for culinary specialties from the Rhine.
