Bacharach Master Concerts 2026/2027

Saturday, October 24, 2026, 6:00 p.m., “Recuerdos de Paraguay”

Luciano Pompilio, guitar – Bari (Apulia)

A guitarist who has won awards at 25 international guitar competitions travels to Paraguay, where he performs before an audience of over 2,000 people after being awarded the “Premio República,” one of Latin America’s most prestigious honors. Luciano Pompilio not only performs works by the Paraguayan composer Agustín Pío Barrios Mangoré, but also incorporates pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Alexandre Tansman, and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco into his Bacharach program. After studying in Foggia, Italy, he won first prize at the most prestigious competition for guitar duos, the “Montélimar Competition” in France. He has recorded nine CDs, made it onto the iTunes charts, and toured throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas. As this is his first appearance at the Bacharach Master Concerts, we look forward to an outstanding soloist who will present us with an exquisite program.

Sunday, November 15, 2026, 6:00 p.m., “From Mozart to Deep Purple”

The Silesian Chamber Soloists, Katowice: Christoph Ewers, piano — Stuttgart; Roman Widaszek, clarinet — Krakow

What happens when a classical musician arranges hits from the 1960s for his own chamber ensemble? Exquisitely crafted pieces in which the listener recognizes both catchy pop tunes and great classical music! A true crossover project that truly lives up to its name. And its success proves composer Dariusz Zboch and his ensemble right. The ensemble has already performed several acclaimed concerts in Bacharach. In this year’s “Meister-Konzert,” the five outstanding musicians will accompany pianist Christoph Ewers in a Mozart piano concerto and clarinetist Roman Widaszek in Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, and after intermission, they will perform their concertmaster’s crossover arrangements. Saturday, January 16, 2027, 6:00 p.m., “Pictures at an Exhibition”

Pierre-Laurent Boucharlat, piano - Lyon

It was his CD recording of all of Chopin’s études that propelled the French pianist Pierre-Laurent Boucharlat onto the international stages of Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He completed his studies in Paris under two students of Alfred Cortot and Edwin Fischer. He has demonstrated his versatility, among other things, through his performances of contemporary compositions written specifically for him, as well as through his performance of all 32 of Beethoven’s piano sonatas. In the Bacharach Master Concerts, this exceptional artist will perform one of the most famous works of the late 19th century: Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition”!

Saturday, February 20, 2027, 6:00 p.m., “Duo Fortecello”

Anna Mikulska, cello – Poitiers; Philippe Argenty, piano – Poitiers

The FORTECELLO duo is already familiar to Bacharach audiences from two spectacular concerts and has won over the hearts of everyone in the audience. That’s reason enough to invite these two exceptional artists back to the Master Concerts in Bacharach. The two magnificent musicians, Anna Mikulska and Philippe Argenty, continue the musical journey around the world they began in their last concert, combining 19th-century works with contemporary compositions. But we won’t give anything away just yet. The musical range showcased by these two charming, young artists has drawn standing ovations and waves of enthusiasm from the international press. An evening that absolutely no one should miss—a highlight of the Bacharach Master Concerts.

Sunday, April 11, 2027, 6:00 p.m., “Beethoven and the Women”

Christoph Soldan, piano and recitation – Munich; Nadine Oberender, Munich – reading

Christoph Soldan, artistic director of the Bacharach Master Concerts, has been performing worldwide as a pianist, conductor, and reciter for 35 years. His career began in 1988 with a joint tour with Leonard Bernstein, who had this to say about the artist: “I am impressed by the spiritual greatness of this young musician.” To mark the Beethoven Year 2027, Christoph Soldan has selected a program in which he, together with Nadine Oberender, will read from Beethoven’s correspondence with Josephine Countess von Deym and perform three famous piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven. However, this reading concert also concludes by exploring the question of who, in fact, was the recipient of his now-famous love letter addressed as “My angel, my everything, my self.”
